Live racing returns to Inglewood Wednesday, Nov. 10 as Hollywood Park begins a new era as part of the Churchill Downs family of companies. Rick Baedeker formerly vice president of communications for the Television Games (TVG) racing network, has been named President of Hollywood Park by Churchill Downs. He is well known in Southern California, having served as vice president of marketing and public relations for Hollywood Park from 1992-1998. After managing the successful 1997 Breeders’ Cup Championship at Hollywood Park, Baedeker was named senior vice president of marketing for the National Thoroughbred Racing Association in New York. “Having spent so much time at Hollywood Park, both as an employee and as a racing fan, I am respectful of its rich history and committed to its prosperous future,” Baedeker said. “I’m excited about the commitment Churchill Downs has made to improve the facility and eager to once again work with the talented staff at Hollywood Park.” Live racing is scheduled Wednesday through Sunday with first post at 12:30 p.m. Special Friday Night racing cards are scheduled November 12 and November 19, with first post at 7 p.m.
