The Los Angeles Lakers and the Los Angeles Kings will bid farewell to the Great Western Forum this fall. Each team will play a pair of pre-season games in the famous Inglewood arena before moving into the new Staples Center in downtown L.A. Hockey fans will be able to see the Kings play the Colorado Avalanche Sept. 14, and the Anaheim Mighty Ducks Sept. 20. The Lakers will play the Golden State Warriors on Oct. 21, and either the Miami Heat or Phoenix Sun on Oct. 22 as part of their annual Shootout preseason basketball tournament. In spite of the teams’ departure, the Great Western Forum will continue to operate as one of the most popular entertainment venues in the Los Angeles area.
