ABC’s
20/20 aired two inspiring stories Sunday, April 11, shining the national
spotlight on two pillars of the Inglewood community.
00First was a feature on Rev. Donald Bell’s
“Sister, I’m Sorry” program in which men from his congregation
help soothe the pain of women who have beed abused during their life.
“Sister, I’m Sorry” is growing in popularity around
the country, and Rev. Bell pioneered the program in Inglewood.
00The second feature told the story of Joe
Wolfson, a local body boarder who was suffering from cancer and tried
to end his life by drowning. He was rescued by a group of middle school
students who later wrote to him with messages of hope. He was so moved
that he sought treatment at Centinela Hospital Medical Center in Inglewood.
His condition has stabilized and he is now living in Mexico and surfing
everyday.
