Hollywood Park Shines Bright During Power Crunch

In spite of California’s power crunch, there will be no shortage of energy at Hollywood Park April 20 - July 26 as the nation’s best thoroughbreds and jockeys take up residence at the legendary Inglewood track. • Hollywood Park is equipped with back-up generators to make sure racing operations continue in the event of a rolling blackout. It has also adjusted its traditional Friday Night schedule to help conserve electricity. • After Opening Night festivities April 20, all subsequent Friday programs will begin at 3:30 p.m. to ensure that the eight-race card concludes at about 7 p.m. • There is a silver lining to the state’s energy crisis, as far as twilight Friday fan are concerned. They will be able to arrive for the first race before rush hour, and leave the track after the eighth race when traffic has subsided. • First post for all Saturday, Sunday, Wednesday and Thursday programs will remain 1 p.m. • Fans will also be able to take advantage of Hollywood Park’s special Friday prices -- $1 hot dogs, $1 sodas, and $1 beer -- all day long. A special Happy Hour is also scheduled from 7 p.m. to 8 p.m. for fans who stay for simulcast wagering on Golden Gate, Cal Expo and Los Alamitos programs.
